Since his hiring in 2003, Coach Vic has worked tirelessly to build a successful softball program, even volunteering his time to organize off-season workouts throughout the year, identifying outside clinics where players can refine and improve their skills, and dedicating countless hours to the upkeep of the field and facility. This has resulted in highly competitive teams with 15 players going on to compete at the collegiate level.
Vic grew up in Oakland and played baseball at Skyline High School, where he excelled at baseball. Fun fact, he had a locker next to world class actor, Tom Hanks, throughout those years. Coach Silva then played baseball and tennis at Laney College, before starting a 15 year career playing competitive fastpitch softball. He has coached travel softball for 20 years with stints with the Lafayette Lightning and currently the Choppers.
Coach Vic is in his 20th year coaching Dons softball. We are fortunate to have such a well respected, iconic figure as our leader. He is poised to continue to lead the team towards greatness, as the program expands and grows under his watch. Go Dons!
